This week was tough to take for Britain’s left. The sight of Labour Prime Minister grovelling to President Trump on his unprecedented second state visit, even as the news reached London about MAGA’s launch of the most prolific crackdown on American free speech in history following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, was difficult. It was clear that Starmer will never show solidarity with the American left, he is intent on his strategy of Trump supplication.
You got the impression that if Trump had shown up naked wearing clothes someone had told him very invisible, the British royals and politicians would have been falling over themselves to tell him that his clothes were beautiful.
